Madeleine Varkay, CEO and majority shareholder, has a Master’s from Columbia University in Economic Policy Management and over 30 years experience in blended finance with a results-based policy and project development track record across South East Asia – most recently Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore – and the major markets of China, Korea, Japan, and Latin America, North Africa as well as North America. She has also developed institutional development projects in the frontier markets of Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. She has represented the Asian Development Bank, as board of director member, in several equity-invested institutions.

Madeleine has worked across the public, state-owned and private sector with the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the commercial banking sector. She is a member of the Asia-Pacific Financial Forum of institutional investors including pension funds and insurance and reinsurance companies. She has pioneered projects using blended finance for mitigation and adaptation, SME finance, disaster risk insurance and plastic waste recycling. She has established working relationships with financial regulators, corporates, think tanks, risk managers, actuarial firms and academic research institutes. She applies the IFRS sustainability disclosure standards in her projects. An avid sailor and hiker, she enjoys the outdoors and new discoveries. She splits her time between Canada, the US and Asia.
